The Annual Halloween Art Exhibit is proud to present the 2007 Children's Interactive hosted by Ms. Lisa of Devil's Workshop Arts & Crafts! Learn about the history of Halloween and how it is celebrated around the world while making your own Halloween art to bring home! Each child will receive a Craft Coffin to decorate and take home (perfect for storing treasures or Halloween candy!). Costumes are encouraged but not required. Activities will also include snacks and a Halloween coloring/activity book. Pre-register and receive a free toy from the Devil's Workshop! A participation fee of $8.00 is requested on-site and will include all supplies and a snack. Groups are welcome but must provide one chaperone for every three children (chaperones attend free). Ursula Bielski is the founder of Chicago Hauntings, Inc. An historian, author, and parapsychology enthusiast. She has been writing and lecturing about Chicago's supernatural folklore and the paranormal for nearly 20 years. Her ambition and dedication has resulted in the formation of The 1st Annual Chicago Ghost Conference, the first of it's kind ever held in the city of Chicago. Field investigators, authors, historians, folklorists, artists, sensitives, and enthusiasts from every walk of life will come together for a weekend of learning and discovery, and - of course - ghosthunting. The Annual Halloween Art Exhibit was honored at the invite to display on Oct. 27th during the festivities. This will be our first satellite location and look forward being a part of their history. The IAHA and HAE collide in 2007 Halloween Art Poster

This year's poster has an interesting concept and model, namely Deanna "Witchypoo" Morton as Lily Munster sporting a cool Halloween tattoo. She also happens to be staff for the International Association of Haunted Attractions. Does matter attract matter or what? When HAE producer/artist Scott Jackson brought this idea of recreating the TV icon in a contemporary vogue-type art piece, fate brought Mrs. Morton to the call through a brief introduction at Trans World, along with mutual friend Chad Savage who also is the HAE Associate Director. When I saw Deanna in Lily's costume at her Myspace, I immediately called upon HAE artist/ photographer Lilly Prinn to see if we could make this happen. The end result was to say the least, awesome, says Jackson who has been designing the posters from the beginning of the HAE's conception. This is the first time a photograph has been used for the annual venues, and the response has been great. HAE artist/ photographer Lilly Prinn will display more from the original shoot at this years' exhibit. You can get the new poster for a limited time by visiting the HAE Store.

The HAE will be featured in the newest DVD offering from Chuck Williams' "Halloween, the Happy Haunting of America". The 10th Anniversary 2 disc set features names like Alice Cooper, Robert Englund, Tom Savini, and many other great Haunt & Halloween guests. We were thrilled to be included in the "Things that go bump in the night" section which will serve up at least 20 images from the best of The Annual Halloween Art Exhibit. The HAE & The Society of American Magicians (SAM)
Doors open as Halloween & Magic unite for the advancement of the arts...
By invitation, the HAE attended The Society of American Magicians meeting on Chicago's Southwest side. This was no ordinary night, as renowned conjurer Andy Dallas showed the pros why he's also the National President. His incredible performances of modern updates to classic illusions hailed a standing ovation from all who attended! The Annual Halloween Art Exhibit was also applauded for welcoming new performers to our expanding exhibition, and offering our posse of talented artists for those magic acts needing help with promotion & advertising. The Society's Chicago Chapter President, Neil Tobin (accomplished necromancer in his own right) joins us in the 2007 edition of the HAE when he performs his own brand of magic on October 20th. These kinds of associations are as inspiring as they are fun to be with, which means we'll be looking more into the magical, clairavoyant and ghost chasing societies to contribute to and collaborate with in the near future.

Trip or treat? The HAE and the Burning Man...
The Annual Halloween Art Exhibit was more than honored to participate in a benefit for of all organizations...the Burning Man Foundation! Yes, that's right gang, The BM's Chicago chapter held a live painting demonstration/ rave called "Entheon" hosted by psychedelic artist icon Alex Grey (He's on the latest "Tool" CD cover). A 30" x 30" Black Cat 13! print donated by the HAE was well received during the 7pm - 5am paint a-thon/party, the auction held on the following day. It was no surprise that every esoteric person we encountered claimed Halloween as their favorite Holiday. Do we see Halloween Mandalas in the future? I think you know the answer to that one.

HAE Artist/ Member selected by H.R. Giger for art exhibition in Switzerland

Brad Moore made a recent trip to the snowy alps for an art exhibition not like many others...in H.R. Giger's castle! Most of us already familiar with the legendary artist who gave us the great "Alien" creature design, numerous album covers, illos for the Necronomicon, etc., would die for the chance for a one-on-one artist talk, let alone be hand picked for an exhibition with him! Brad Moore's no stranger to CD covers and Gigeresque - type illustrations, earning him a rightful place among dark art artists and afficianados everywhere.
